Bridging an audio amplifier means connecting the output terminals of two amplifier circuits to drive a single load (speaker or speaker system) simultaneously. When bridged, the audio waveforms outputted by the two amplifier circuits are in opposite phase and loaded onto the speaker, resulting in double the audio voltage on the load and a fourfold increase in power (assuming ideal current and consistent load impedance. However, in reality, due to power limitations, the current cannot keep up, so bridging is often not suitable for impedances below 8 ohms, resulting in a doubling of output power in most cases).
Most professional performance and KTV amplifiers support bridging mode. After adjusting the amplifier to bridged mode, the speaker does not need to be grounded (the black negative terminal is left unconnected), and the speaker wires are connected across the two red output terminals. The phase of the bridged connection is indicated by the red terminal (positive and negative).
A Mexican customer asked if Sinbosen's K series amplifier can be bridged, if channels 1-2 can be bridged while channels 3-4 are not bridged. The answer is yes.
However, it is important to note that Sinbosen K series cannot drive subwoofers, even if bridged. Doing so may damage your amplifier or speakers.
Damage to speakers caused by bridging
Bridging theoretically doubles the power, but users often overlook a crucial question: the theoretical bridging of power amplifiers refers to the complete equality of technical parameters between the two channels, which is practically impossible. Even top-level amplifiers abroad find it difficult to manipulate the channels definitively together. Therefore, improper bridging can lead to power mismatch and speaker burnout, primarily due to the resulting crossover distortion and imbalance in the parameters of the two channels. Bridging is like tying your legs and hands together. Once you use it, you must maintain coordinated movements, or else errors will occur.
Because the K series has lower power, it is not recommended to bridge the K series power amplifier except for some special cases.
